Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- One year of experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care. Additional formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for some or all the required experience.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic sub-specialties and testing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties and perform basic/advanced patient care as directed by a physician or supervisor.
- Receive and prepare patients for examination and treatment under the direction of a supervisor, physician and/or technician.
- Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties for high acuity patient populations, patients who have been admitted to the hospital and/or critical care patients.
- Perform routine screening tests and document patient information in the patient medical record.
- Stock and maintain exam rooms with equipment and supplies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for some or all the required experience.
