Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of a wide range of learning strategies and study skills
- Ability to teach learning and study skills necessary for academic success at the collegiate level
- Awareness and sensitivity to the academic, athletic, and social pressures faced by student-athletes at the collegiate level
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements programs and services designed to meet the needs of academically at-risk student-athletes
- Design educational plans for identified student-athletes with identified learning disabilities and/or learning needs
- Collaborate with academic entities in addressing specific learning needs and identified interventions
- Provide intensive, essential learning strategies for under prepared student-athletes in a highly competitive academic setting by providing proactive, early, sustained, individualized support to enhance student success
- Utilize teaching skills and knowledge of student personal and cognitive development to design and implement a learning support system
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress
- Identifies student-athletes individual needs. Develops and delivers support programs and services
- Develops and teaches decision making, time management, organizational, and study skills
- Compile and maintain confidential records and other documentation
- Serve as a liaison between the Academic Affairs for Athletics staff, faculty, ODAS, and coaches to enhance the academic success of student-athletes
- Oversee individual student assessment programs including APTUS and psychoeducational evaluations
- Train Academic Affairs for Athletics coordinators, tutors, and mentors in learning strategies for identified population
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field
- Experience working with student-athletes at the NCAA DI level
