Requirements

  • Four-year college degree
  • Two+ years in professional experience in international education, advising, student services, or related field
  • Well-developed communication skills required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer skills, especially Microsoft office; ability to learn new skills quickly

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all approved programs (i.e., study abroad partners, international internship partners, trip leaders, and participants)
  • Establish and maintain relationships with partners, institutions, and organizations
  • Uphold LU Send policies, procedures, deadlines in the coordination of trip budgets, itineraries, and logistics
  • Monitor Financial Check-in and student payments for programs
  • Coordinate approved program logistics with vetted external travel advisors, vendors, other external parties, and business offices
  • Oversee itinerary development and implementation of hybrid study abroad programming
  • Assist students with pre-trip preparations, including necessary documentation (i.e., visas, travel arrangements, and health and safety resources)
  • Work closely with the Office of Spiritual Development departments to facilitate the development and integration of effective cultural & service engagement
  • Provide advising for approved programs for students before, during, and after their experience (including pre-departure process, orientation, and re-entry programming)
  • Develop expertise international education, using industry best practices for Study Abroad and International Internships
  • Participate in scouting study abroad and international internship locations as well as lead student groups as needed
  • Maintain records of students and university employees participating in travel
  • Participate in annual fairs, Pre-Departure meetings, interest meetings, and attend University events as needed
  • Promote and represent opportunities through advising sessions, campus recruitment, study abroad, and group travel exhibition
  • Oversee the daily assignments and stewardship of assigned departmental student workers
  • Stay up to date the university’s global risk management policies and procedures
  • Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ

Preferred Qualifications

  • A professional concentration or certificate in travel/tourism is preferred
  • Experience working with faculty is preferred
