Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree).
  • Must have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB)/Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
  • Must be a member of a state bar in good standing, with active license.

Responsibilities

  • Advising on all aspects of the GDPR, including drafting and reviewing data protection contracts, data protection policies, procedures and notices.
  • Assisting and managing privacy compliance framework projects and liaising with the UPS Global Privacy Office and UPS Public Affairs.
  • Assisting in management of Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Negotiating and advising on Business Associate Agreements (BAA) and other related privacy and data protection agreements with customers and vendors.
  • Advising on data privacy and cyber security risk issues.
  • Managing, with the Global Privacy Office, any data incidents occurring in UPS Healthcare.
  • Participates in contractual meetings to advise Sales team and Solutions group on documentation needed to support the customer.
  • Prepares weekly status reports for stakeholders and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise regarding all legal and regulatory issues related to privacy, security, and data, preferably CIPP certified.
  • Demonstrates ability to intake, assess, and communicate the requirements of all new laws and regulations related to privacy, security, and data.
  • Able to support the Division’s need to mitigate privacy risk while also supporting the commercial needs of the division.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of the functions, regulations, and procedures of privacy compliance agencies or governing bodies; takes a leadership position in programs that reduce risk and enhance safety.
  • Identifies cultural issues that may impact business needs or customer solutions; applies cultural sensitivity when interacting with others outside one’s own geography; leverages cultural awareness to address challenges when operating across different geographical areas; stays current on global and cultural trends.
  • Uses multiple strategies to persuade others; identifies and removes barriers to agreements; wins concessions effectively; provides input into future negotiation processes or strategies.
  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of risk management fundamentals.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of techniques for soliciting and gathering information; identifies appropriate sources of information.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key decision makers across subsidiaries and business units; consistently provides successful customer solutions.
