Requirements

  • Completion of AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT Registered
  • Specialized training and education in mammography positioning, technique selection, and physics
  • Ability to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups, mostly age 30 and above
  • Must be able to recognize physical signs of stress, apprehension, and anxiety in patients
  • Experienced in the use of analog and all current digital technologies as of 2010
  • ARRT Certification
  • IDNS License
  • Evidence of specialized training in positioning, compression, technical selection, anatomy and physiology, equipment, quality control, and customer satisfaction training
  • CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Establishes a system to monitor and track all suspicious mammography reports to ensure physician follow-up
  • Serve as a liaison between the Medical Director, referring physicians, nursing units, department management, and ancillary/support departments
  • Maintains department customer focus by setting example
  • Participates on Advocate system-wide Mammography Subcommittee
  • Ensures monthly cycle time data is prepared and sent to appropriate people; reviews outcome
  • Prepares monthly department Quality Assurance Reports for Director and Medical Chairman
  • Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of quality assurance and quality control plans
  • Is responsible for the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual quality assurance testing at the Good Samaritan Hospital and all other offsite centers
  • Oversees MQSA Inspections at both facilities
  • Prepares staff work schedules, and allocates resources appropriate to meet department work load
  • Responsible for completing the payroll activities of the mammography staff via the time and attendance system
  • Performs annual performance reviews on all mammography personnel
  • Responsible for the appropriate use of the Radiology Information System, Radnet, Allegr, Carenet and Penrad Systems for patient demographics, diagnostic reporting, and charge capture
  • Performs the duties of a staff mammography technologist
  • Responsible for the procurement of appropriate supplies used in the Mammography Center
  • Provides community education when requested to do so
  • Participates in community health fairs
