Responsibilities
- Assist eMerge Managing Partner and Principals with the day-to-day operations of the eMerge team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery and implementation of team initiatives.
- Coordinate with relevant teams supporting eMerge (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Legal Talent, and Professional Development) for financial management, recruiting and staffing, onboarding, and ongoing performance management and development needs; assure effective performance in all areas and active engagement of the operations team in execution.
- Work closely with Managing Partner on eMerge personnel initiatives and decisions, such as performance management processes, matter staffing, team bonus structure, training programs, and team meeting agendas.
- Plan, execute, and oversee regular and special eMerge training and retention initiatives, such as the eMerge Annual Leadership Retreat, quarterly team meetings, annual team-wide training, Annual Team Awards & Celebration, and other team social events.
- Manage employee life cycle events and performance management with support of HR, operations staff, and other eMerge managers and directors.
- Ensure effective, accurate, and timely execution of monthly billing process for billing preparation and delivery of client invoices, in collaboration with the firm’s accounting department; identify and implement process improvements for billing efficiency and resolve complex billing issues.
- Manage the annual eMerge revenue and expense budget and approve all eMerge expenses.
- Conduct regular monthly financial analysis across eMerge, and proactively prepare executive summary reporting on key financial metrics for eMerge Managing Partner and Principals review.
- Prepare routine business metrics reports for eMerge Managing Partner, leveraging technologies such as QuickBase and LitShare.
- Oversee people and processes related to new client/matter engagement, intake, conflicts clearance and matter opening.
- Monitor current eMerge priorities and business needs, recommending and implementing strategies and actions to execute on those needs.
- Oversee support from operations staff related to routine administrative assignments to ensure efficiency in processes and alignment with business needs and goals.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team performance and drive continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in law firm or legal industry management/administration.
- Experience with principles of financial reporting, financial analysis, billable hours productivity tracking and reporting.
- Strong legal and/or discovery services industry experience.
