Requirements

  • Graduation from a Cardiovascular / Ultrasound program or equivalent experience
  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, PE)
  • Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) certification in Pediatrics by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Two years minimum pediatric echocardiography work experience in performing M-Mode, 2-D, 3-D, Doppler, and color Doppler
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and complex congenital heart disease, pre and post-operatively
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality echocardiograms for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist
  • Organize and prioritize patient exams
  • Contribute to unit teamwork
  • Perform clinical Pediatric Echo operations in the hospital and procedural setting
  • Enter full preliminary reports
  • Cover all MUSC Pediatric Echo Lab locations and shifts including call rotation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification preferred
  • Associate of Arts/Science or a Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Fetal Echo and research experience preferred
  • Echocardiography experience in the setting of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Cath Lab preferred
