Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Focus on critical military projects, system validation, operational functionality, design verification, and mission performance, with future work on advanced systems
  • Engage in critical commercial projects for cost reduction, such as ATP optimization
  • Collaborate in a team environment to design functional system architecture, defining major components and subsystems using physics-based models
  • Develop detailed functional schematics, concept layouts, sketches, and preliminary component details
  • Develop, manage, and communicate system requirements to the integrated product team to ensure alignment with project goals
  • Investigate design factors and conduct trade studies to identify optimal solutions for both internal and external customer requirements
  • Support testing for systems, subsystems, and components
  • Assist in design verification and certification tests, post-process, and analyze test results in relation to design specifications and objectives

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, systems, or aerospace engineering is preferred
  • Experience with classical mechanical design analysis (spring design, beam equations, pressure vessels, fluid flow, and thermal conduction)
  • Equation/Physics based modeling experience in any coding language
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engine systems
  • SysML experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with requirements management and system architecture development
  • Experience with military certification processes
  • Experience with design verification and validation
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
