Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Responsibilities
- Focus on critical military projects, system validation, operational functionality, design verification, and mission performance, with future work on advanced systems
- Engage in critical commercial projects for cost reduction, such as ATP optimization
- Collaborate in a team environment to design functional system architecture, defining major components and subsystems using physics-based models
- Develop detailed functional schematics, concept layouts, sketches, and preliminary component details
- Develop, manage, and communicate system requirements to the integrated product team to ensure alignment with project goals
- Investigate design factors and conduct trade studies to identify optimal solutions for both internal and external customer requirements
- Support testing for systems, subsystems, and components
- Assist in design verification and certification tests, post-process, and analyze test results in relation to design specifications and objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, systems, or aerospace engineering is preferred
- Experience with classical mechanical design analysis (spring design, beam equations, pressure vessels, fluid flow, and thermal conduction)
- Equation/Physics based modeling experience in any coding language
- Working knowledge of gas turbine engine systems
- SysML experience is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with requirements management and system architecture development
- Experience with military certification processes
- Experience with design verification and validation
- Experience in the aerospace industry
