Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching, academic coaching, social-emotional counseling, and/or college-going support for students.
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement for area of instruction.
  • Experience with innovative technologies and online learning, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead facilitator for several cohorts of students attending onsite at Pima JTed.
  • Develops and implements structures that support a positive classroom environment and community culture, track student attendance, and build a system to communicate concerns to families.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of an innovative semester-based exhibition of work created with students, in collaboration with ASU Prep Digital+ team, industry partners, as well as Pima JTed staff.
  • Supports students in ASU Prep Digital courses by developing goals and plans for success with students and communicating frequently with teachers in all subject areas, as well as students’ Learning Success Coach and families.
  • Responsible for developing a student-centered classroom structure incorporating intentional community-building, fostering student agency, and planning full-day program content for each assigned course and cohort collaborating with Pima JTed staff and industry experts.
  • Provides individualized support to all Prep Digital+ students based on identified risk factors including academic, socio-emotional, and other potential issues to help develop individual plans for success in collaboration with ASU Prep support staff (ie. Social Worker, LSC, Case Manager, Teachers and Prep Digital+ team members).
  • Works with each assigned student regularly to develop an evolving ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) that includes realistic goals that will contribute to their academic and personal success; develop relationships that foster a sense of belonging; use restorative practices to resolve conflict within the community; motivate students to self-advocate on behalf of their educational goals.
  • Conducts ILP conferences with students and their families a minimum of 2 times throughout the school year.
  • Coaches students in-person, as well as by phone, email, text and other available online technologies.
  • Closely analyzes students’ progress on ASU Prep and ASU’s LMS (Canvas), and develops plans and strategies for academic progress, and provides communication with students, families and instructors.
  • Provides individualized support for students to ensure continued enrollment in the program.
  • Develops and implements engaging and innovative lessons aligned to ASU Prep’s Profile of Learning and Pima JTed’s Professional Skills to prepare students for the future.
  • Works with the Director and Program Manager to conduct virtual information sessions, open houses, and other community events, as assigned.
  • Supports program development and promotion by: hosting prospective family visits, and shadow days on-site multiple times a year; taking pictures and submitting for ASU Prep to post on social media; submit site updates to the monthly newsletter, and update websites and communication channels as needed.
  • Creates site-based documents to include, but not limited to: permission slips, attendance sheets, surveys, site-based rosters, and others as needed.
  • Resolves problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implements solutions; escalates unresolved problems and follows up to ensure resolution of each issue.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments and services, across ASU Prep as well as Pima JTed to understand processes, systems, and services and to resolve student issues.
  • Collaborates with the Program Manager, Director, and ASU Prep Digital team on successful student support.
  • Provides proper and thorough documentation of interactions and processes as they evolve through the Incident Reporting documentation protocol.
  • Leads on-site five days a week
  • Acts as a liaison between student, digital teacher, family, Program Manager and Director.
  • Participates in all program meetings, training sessions (Network and team), and committees, as scheduled.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Flex classroom/Modern classroom experience, preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, desired but not required.
  • Knowledge and background with Design thinking and/or Project Based Learning preferred.
