Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in public accounting, private or public companies, with progressive complexity in scope and responsibilities
  • CPA or CA designation required
  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations
  • Experience in IPO readiness processes and involvement in IPO-related activities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex topics clearly
  • Ability to anticipate needs, identify opportunities, and work with a high level of attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for leveraging technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Proven experience implementing and managing sales tax engine systems (e.g., Avalara, Vertex) as well as Hands-on experience with finance and ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee global indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and other applicable indirect taxes
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize and automate indirect tax processes and workflows
  • Lead the implementation, integration, and ongoing maintenance of sales tax engine systems to ensure accurate tax calculation and reporting across all finance systems
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and compliance service providers
  • Collaborate with FP&A to develop accurate cash tax forecasts and indirect tax accruals
  • Support international expansion by advising on VAT/GST registration, planning, and compliance requirements
  • Manage indirect tax audits, voluntary disclosure agreements, including preparation of supporting documentation and audit defense strategies
  • Establish and continuously improve indirect tax accounting practices and internal controls in alignment with GAAP and SOX requirements
  • Prepare, review, and manage indirect tax accruals and maintain the tax compliance calendar
  • Support the preparation of the quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740
  • Contribute to all tax-related initiatives aligned with Fivetran’s growth strategy, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and industry best practices
  • Champion the use of tax technology and automation to enhance operational efficiency and scalability
