Requirements

- Education– BSEE, BSME
- Experience – 10+ years in complete vehicle and system level advanced manufacturing or serial manufacturing
- Experience in EV system assembly and handling
- Experience in complete vehicle development and manufacture
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with global teams
- Proficient computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering team
- Support Technical Area (TA) core competencies
- Propose and lead advance manufacturing topics supporting the GTA
- Support and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices (global and local)
- Lead early product development as it relates to manufacturing and assembly needs ensuring optimal balance between product functional criteria and manufacturability as required per the manufacturing best practices
- Lead or support module teams with assembly simulations and design to value
- Work in a lead/support relationship with global and local manufacturing teams to address new, unique characteristics of our products and process
- Lead the development of manufacturing process and equipment concurrent with new product development insuring product performance specifications, cost targets and timing are achieved
- Lead and define the Bill of Processes (BOP), assembly resource needs, space requirements, workflow, layout, and station balance for prototype events
- Lead or support the roll down of material handling and logistics needs to the tiered suppliers as required per the operation and BOP plan
- Process definition in accordance with regulated standards (OSHA/MAFACT/etc.)
- Lead or support the development of the complete vehicle and subsystem level PFMEA including defining the assembly process for each subsystem per project phase and whether process verification analysis is virtual or empirical
- Support and contribute to serial manufacturing planning and customer program launches while integrating lessons learned from the build/launch events, best practices and establish global benchmarks in support of the operations
- Propose continuous improvement opportunities to level up team skills, qualifications, tools, and processes in areas such as materials, machinery, methodologies, measurements, and processes and contribute to the advanced manufacturing knowledgebase
- Production strategy definition coherent with requirements of module teams
- Design assessment to meet project manufacturing targets
- Provide technical support to identify, develop, solve, critical process issues with cross functional teams and/or suppliers and participate on design to value
- Coordinate cross-technology quotations and product specification, infrastructure, and resource planning for production scope of work
- Employ technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more subsystems
- Support the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones
- Lead external support, services and resources supporting the project advance manufacturing
- Support manufacturing activities assigned to third parties and tiered partners
- Be responsible to set and achieve OEM/Magna project manufacturing, cost, and timing targets
- Support the Project Manager (PM) and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting
- Be responsible for the advanced manufacturing plans and documents release into internal and external sites
- Lead global AME touchpoint and milestone meetings
- Collaborate with the product development and quality teams to assure build events scope, timing alignment and quality control plans
- Collaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions
- Support Local Technical Head and Global Technical Area Head (GTAH) to assure concurrent best practice implementation online organization and during project execution
- Responsible to manage day-to-day activities for hourly and salary personnel
- Ensure cooperation with project management and all other groups within the area (global cooperation)
- Ensure the PFMEA is current with updates and results
- Ensure builds events are planned and follow the BOP, workflow, and resource plan
- Ensure the BOP and EOL testing methods are clear and aligned with cross functional teams
- Ensure training of employees according to the required skills
- Escalate problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members
- Promote sharing know how mindset across peers and with other areas
Preferred Qualifications
- Be familiar with working and leading teams at a customers’ site (Preferred)
- Experience supervising or managing technical personnel preferred
- Experience in serial production launching of a complete vehicle preferred
- Experience in End of Line testing for components and assemblies
