Requirements
- High school graduation or GED.
- Three years of experience in the operation of computers and auxiliary equipment.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Work seamlessly across organizational boundaries.
- Ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with personnel that perform maintenance or upgrade work on computer/facility systems (verbal and written).
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control the operation of computer system consoles
- Analyze and escalate reported issues coordinating resolution
- Perform data halls tasks, upon request: Securing access to the UDC Austin data centers, Tier 1 technical assistance for customers (hard drive swaps, crash cart connections, power cycle systems), Escort UT personnel and vendors in data halls, Data Center site checks
- Receive and ship parts and equipment and provide media destruction services for UDC customers
- Respond to and fulfill job tasks within established Service Level Agreements
- Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy UTS157 in order to drive on- and off-campus utilizing University-owned vehicles.
- Email, project work, meetings and training
- Strict adherence to attendance and punctuality for assigned shift
- Other related functions as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of work experience and/or training supporting the operation of computers and auxiliary equipment.
- Experience providing support to mission critical data centers or network operation centers.
- Understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as HVAC, Electrical and UPS Systems.
- Working knowledge of Networking: concepts, protocols and cabling.
- System administration of Windows, Unix and/or Mainframe platforms.
- Ability and willingness to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with minimal impact on reliability.
- Technical certifications such as ITIL, A+ or Data Center.
