Requirements
- 5+ years proven experience in the design of automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle fluid systems
- Strong mechanical design and integration skills using Creo Parametric / ProE
- Experience managing large CAD assemblies and associated drawings
- Proficient in creating detailed part drawings
- Knowledge of standard components, installation and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, fitting, welding, etc.)
- Experience in the drawing generation, checking, and release processes
- Experience in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41)
- Experience with welding processes and AWS weld symbols
- Work autonomously in a dynamic and fast paced work environment
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Responsibilities
- Create models, drawings, and configurations of launch vehicle hardware with a focus on mechanical and fluid systems including secondary structures, piping, mechanisms and components
- Provide CAD and PLM support to generate models and drawings, create design alternatives, build interface control models and drawings, and deliver geometry suitable for creating Finite Element Models (FEM)
- Incorporate drafting standards and standard drawing notes based on company, program, and industry standards
- Perform model and drawing check activities during release reviews
- Build and manage the design standards for the New Glenn Fluids Subsystem
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selecting standard aerospace hardware, fasteners, fittings, seals, etc.
- Windchill PLM experience
- Knowledge of fabrication and integration processes for machined components, sheet metal and welded assemblies
- Extensive practice in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
- Solid understanding of aerospace materials and treatments
- Management of components through the complete product lifecycle
- Experience working in a multi-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products
- Knowledge of fluid components typical in propellant systems such as valves, regulators, bellows, pumps, etc.
