Research Associate II

Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years’ full-time research experience in related field, or master’s degree plus two (2) years’ full-time research experience in related field
Clinical and/or research animal handling experience, including behavioral assessments and surgical procedures
Bench-side assay development and laboratory techniques
Strong skills in data management and record keeping
Current or ability to obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS); American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course; American Red Cross CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation); or equivalent. Web based classes do not meet these standards
The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level
Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required

Responsible for supporting laboratory-based research applying the latest scientific knowledge towards the solution of a broad range of theoretical and practical problems
Assists with administrative tasks, including preparation and revision of Performance Work Statements (PWS), IACUC and IRB protocols, proposals, manuscripts, report and presentation editing and review
Routes administrative paperwork related to scientific products
Coordinates the implementation of research studies, including regulatory requirements, maintenance of study records and all activities associated with internal and external audits
Assists in ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies related to research under contract
Aids in market research for equipment and equipment maintenance services requirements related to research under contract
Ensures IACUC/IRB requirements are followed
Modifies and plans research experiment schedules, procedures, and tests
Researches and collects data through complex laboratory/scientific experiments, techniques, and procedures, literature research, or through other means for research projects
Assists with the maintenance of a clean and operational lab space
Reports on status of research activities
Maintains data and records securely, including the use of an assigned laboratory notebook
Oversee and instruct contract personnel on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance
Writes and edits material for publication and presentations
