Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years’ full-time research experience in related field, or master’s degree plus two (2) years’ full-time research experience in related field
- Clinical and/or research animal handling experience, including behavioral assessments and surgical procedures
- Bench-side assay development and laboratory techniques
- Strong skills in data management and record keeping
- Current or ability to obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS); American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course; American Red Cross CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation); or equivalent. Web based classes do not meet these standards
- The candidate will be required to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level
- Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting laboratory-based research applying the latest scientific knowledge towards the solution of a broad range of theoretical and practical problems
- Assists with administrative tasks, including preparation and revision of Performance Work Statements (PWS), IACUC and IRB protocols, proposals, manuscripts, report and presentation editing and review
- Routes administrative paperwork related to scientific products
- Coordinates the implementation of research studies, including regulatory requirements, maintenance of study records and all activities associated with internal and external audits
- Assists in ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies related to research under contract
- Aids in market research for equipment and equipment maintenance services requirements related to research under contract
- Ensures IACUC/IRB requirements are followed
- Modifies and plans research experiment schedules, procedures, and tests
- Researches and collects data through complex laboratory/scientific experiments, techniques, and procedures, literature research, or through other means for research projects
- Assists with the maintenance of a clean and operational lab space
- Reports on status of research activities
- Maintains data and records securely, including the use of an assigned laboratory notebook
- Oversee and instruct contract personnel on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance
- Writes and edits material for publication and presentations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Graphpad or SAS (preferred)
- Experience in military medical research laboratory (preferred)
