Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0-3 years of medical assistant experience, preferably in dermatology
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
Responsibilities
- Rooming patients and updating all components of the patient’s medical history
- Documenting reason for visit and history of present illness
- Assisting the physician with office procedures including biopsies, surgeries, and treatments for various skin conditions
- Working as part of a team to see a patient volume of an average of up to 40 patients per day
- Basic scribing responsibilities
- Taking and documenting patient HPI
- Updating all patients medical/surgical/family history, medications, and allergies
- Prepping and assisting numerous surgical procedures such as ED&Cs, shave/punch biopsies, ILK, I&D, and others
- Prepping and assisting with numerous cosmetic procedures such as Botox, lasers, and others
- Demonstrating strict sterile techniques
- Numbing treatment areas as directed
- Removing sutures as needed
- Logging pathology and transmitting pathology orders to appropriate lab
- Inputting templates and scribes chart notes as required by physician
- Processing RX refills and submitting prior authorizations
- Operating Narrowband and photodynamic therapy units
- Filling liquid nitrogen containers for daily use
- Cleaning and stocking patient examination rooms and supply areas
- Following infection control practices
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Performing other duties as assigned
