Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in inbound logistics, supply chain management, import/export operations, and reverse logistics.
  • Proven ability to negotiate freight rates, manage contracts, and optimize transportation networks.
  • Deep knowledge in of import/export regulations, customs clearance, and trade compliance (ITAR, EAR, CBP, BIS, CTPAT)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy, while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, and all levels of management.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust processes and systems that streamline the transportation of specialized goods, including route optimization for multiple destinations at the lowest cost and reverse logistics.
  • Proactively identify, address operational needs, drive change, including process improvements, resource optimization, facilitating cross-functional meetings, and compliance risk mitigation.
  • Optimize freight consolidation, routing, and carrier selection to minimize costs and ensure on time delivery.
  • Oversee global inbound shipments, ensuring timely delivery of materials from suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations, including ITAR, EAR, CBP, and BIS.
  • Work with customs brokers and freight forwarders to streamline import processes, resolve clearance delays, and minimize duties & taxes exposure.
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and carriers to enhance reliability and reduce supply chain disruptions.
  • Negotiate rates, contracts, and service levels to ensure cost-effective and reliable inbound transportation.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure proper packaging, labeling and documentation for international shipments inbound.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to prevent incidents or compliance violations.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing teams to align inbound logistics with production schedules.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in supply chain bottlenecks, and geopolitical disruptions.
  • Pinpoint and integrate technology focused solutions to enhance visibility into a shipment’s lifecycle.
  • Utilize supply chain visibility tools to track shipments, reduce transit times, and enhance logistics decision making.
  • Implement data-driven process improvements to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and improve supplier performance.
  • Develop playbooks and SOPs for inbound logistics operations, ensuring standardization and scalability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess a valid Customs Broker License (Preferred)
  • Dangerous goods certification (IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR) from an industry accepted source (Preferred)
