Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in general ledger management and ERP systems
- 3 years of experience working with law firms, banks, title companies, investors, etc.
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Responsibilities
- Performs complex assigned accounting functions for the Public Trustee Office
- Prepares statistical monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
- Enters financial transactions into foreclosure and release programs, spreadsheets and General Ledger; creates payments for reissue of sales, cures, redemptions, and overbid payments
- Performs account reconciliation and analysis between Workday general ledger and internal software to ensure amounts have been posted and balanced timely and accurately
- Monitors budget including income and expenditures and assists PT in determining budgetary needs
- Manages funds received/disbursed and reconciles discrepancies
- Assists auditors with review of financial records
- Reviews foreclosure and release files to ensure accurate recording and filing of documents
- Verifies accuracy of all release and foreclosure documents, information and fees
- Processes Releases of Deeds of Trust via paper/electronically after examining documentation
- Interacts in person, over the telephone, and via email with the general public, law firms, banks, title companies, investors, and persons directly interested in specific foreclosures or release requests
- As assigned, assists with foreclosure filings
- As assigned, assists with monitoring and updating website
- Follows Public Trustee policies and procedures and the Weld County Code of Conduct. Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information.
- Assists with monitoring legislative developments, including identifying and tracking relevant bills, analyzing the impact of new legislation, and adapting the organization’s strategies to meet legislative requirements.
- Researches and initiates weekly investor redemption ACHs
- Assists with Bright Futures accounting and reconciliation
- Assists with monthly disbursements
- May assist with budget, reporting, and analysis
- Compiles and analyzes financial information and provides general ledger and subsequent reporting
- Reconciles assigned assets, liability, and various bank accounts to source documentation
- Assists with month & year-end processes and annual audit preparation
- Collaborates with various duties to include special assessments, tax roll or other duties as assigned
- Collects appropriate data to prepare 1099 tax forms
- Prepares various reports and schedules as requested
- Follows Treasurer policies and procedures and the Weld County Code of Conduct. Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information.
- As assigned, assists with Ad Hoc tasks related to the Weld County Retirement Plan.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience with government accounting
- Knowledge of Foreclosures, Releases, and Property Tax
- High proficiency in attention to detail in high stress situations.
