Requirements

  • BS in geology or hydrogeology and with minimum of 8+ years’ experience in the environmental consulting field, or a Masters degree with a minimum of 6+ years of experience
  • Hold Licensure as a professional geologist, registered geologist, certified hydrogeologist, or similar
  • Ability to interpret and conduct analysis of hydrologic, hydraulic, chemical, geochemical, geophysical, geotechnical, and geologic data to address project/reporting requirements
  • Direct field work experience includes oversight of drilling operations, soil/lithologic logging, aquifer testing, potentiometric gauging, and groundwater sampling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Experience developing technical proposals, technical approaches, and associated cost estimation
  • Detailed knowledge of federal and state environmental regulatory frameworks, particularly CERCLA and RCRA
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with GIS and Surfer (or similar)
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with aquifer test analysis software (e.g., AqteSolv)
  • Basic to intermediate experience with MODFLOW-USG/MODFLOW 6 and Groundwater Vistas (or similar user interface)
  • Basic to intermediate experience with contaminant fate and transport modeling programs such as SESOIL, AT123D, VLEACH, HYDRUS, PHREEQC
  • Basic to intermediate experience with 2D and 3D data visualization software such as Surfer, Grapher, Earth Volumetric Studio, Leapfrog, or similar
  • Prior completion of OSHA 1910.120 hazardous waste worker certification (40-hour HAZWOPER) and OSHA occupational physical exam and medical clearance allowing performance of field work at hazardous waste sites
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Must be able to travel domestically for client meetings and/or potential site visits up to 10% of the time
  • Must be able to obtain access to, and conduct work on, U.S. Government installations
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required

Responsibilities

  • Developing technical approaches to complex hydrogeologic site investigations and remediation projects
  • Working with project teams to develop CSMs for contaminant nature, extent, fate, and transport
  • Presenting technical information to project teams and stakeholders including Leidos staff, clients, regulatory agencies, and the public
  • Analysis and interpretation of aquifer test and slug test data
  • Review and interpretation of water quality data, laboratory results, remedial system performance data, pilot test data
  • Synthesizing data to formulate technical approaches for remediation and/or site characterization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, water resource engineering
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of PFAS technical guidance and investigations
  • Project management experience is desirable
  • Specialized skills/experience in environmental regulatory requirements; environmental statistical methods (e.g., trend analysis) and software tools (e.g., SAS); environmental databases (e.g., data management); or commonly employed contaminant fate/transport models (e.g., SESOIL, AT123D, DUST)
