Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an EMT/B
- Licensed in Louisiana as an EMT/B
- Current chauffer’s license or equivalent.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Respond to dispatch information and drive specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations within applicable norms.
- Stabilize ill or injured persons by extricating ill or injured person, rendering first aid and relaying ill or injured person status to medical personnel.
- Utilize medical equipment and procedures including a defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
- Recognize any deviations or changes in the patient’s health due to the patient’s condition and from the treatment provided.
- Maintain vehicle/supplies, communications equipment and medical equipment in accordance with applicable standards.
- Keep vehicles and equipment clean, organized, stocked and sanitized before each trip. Uses proper PPE when sanitizing or cleaning spills.
- Utilize and operate appropriate communications equipment, medical equipment, cleaning equipment, office equipment and tools.
- Document activities with regard to patient care and billing completely to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as an EMT Basic.
- Defensive driving course certification.
