Requirements

  • Florida Registered Certified Pharmacy Technician license
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with critical thinking and professional composure
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists providing a high level of assistance in compounding (sterile and non-sterile preparations), distribution and dispensing of medication and other pharmaceutical related supplies
  • Assists pharmacy managers or designee in designing, coordinating, and implementing high quality and cost-effective pharmacy technician services
  • Adheres to all policies and regulations regarding sterile compounding practice
  • Maintains necessary record-keeping and training documentation pertinent to areas of responsibility
  • Inspects assigned area(s) monthly for proper storage and labeling of medications and expired medications; completes necessary inspection documentation
  • Promotes sense of team effort together with pharmacists and technicians
  • Assists in identifying/researching problems and issues related to department budget and patient billing
  • Attends educational seminars/in-services to maintain or enhance skills and competencies
  • Adheres to pharmacy policies, procedures, and objectives; maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment
  • Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications
  • Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the clinical area
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of Hospital experience preferred
  • Sterile and non-sterile compounding experience preferred
  • Knowledge of automated dispensing/storage technology preferred
