Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED
- Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) – American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days of hire
- Basic typing and word processing abilities
- Interest in becoming a Medical Assistant at the end of the program
Responsibilities
- Perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
- Attend all didactic courses established for the Medical Assistant Program
- Accurately schedule tests; obtain films and reports
- Assist physicians and/or nurses to room patients, obtain vital signs, set patient up on MyChart and report findings to medical assistant or RN
- Collaborate with members of the health care team to assist in obtaining outside records prior to or during clinic visit as delegated by the medical assistant, RN, or physician
- Maintain medical records; distribute reports and correspondence; file, photocopy, and process forms (e.g. FMLA and Short-term disability paperwork) related to medical charts
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stock assigned areas and ensure par levels of supplies are maintained; check and complete required logs and equipment such as refrigerator logs, eyewash logs, emergency/crash carts, suction and other required checks
- Perform clerical duties such as greeting patients and answering phones
- Perform in the role of chaperone during sensitive examinations or when requested
- Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures and document in medical record
- Assist in the transport of patients
