Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 5+ years of proven track record in the fields of fluids, thermal, or thermodynamics
  • Experience with one or more fluid or thermal modeling tools is required (e.g., ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS Classic, SINDA/FLUINT, Thermal Desktop, etc.)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Responsibilities

  • Thermal analysis of the launch vehicle and its components to develop and verify design/qualification envelopes
  • Integration of third-party thermal models into Blue Origin vehicle models
  • Development of thermal loads from first principles, literature, and experiment
  • Implementation of aero thermal, plume, and other convective heating environments during all phases of flight
  • Trade studies relating to subsystem design, architecture, and operation
  • Configuration development, detailed design, and verification activities
  • Documentation and maintenance of analysis inputs, models, and results in report and databooks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with logic-heavy Thermal Desktop models
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Python, C#, and/or Fortran
  • Familiarity with knowledge capture systems, integrated engineering tools and rapid development processes
  • Knowledge in the use of 3D CAD tools (CREO preferred)
