Requirements
- J.D. or comparable law degree from a competitive law school and licensed to practice law in at least one state
- 4+ years of relevant experience working with or at a financial institution, or at a futures or cleared derivatives regulator, including relevant experience at a law firm is preferred
- Knowledge of the Commodity Exchange Act, CFTC regulations, NFA and SRO rules is strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Participate in the review, analysis and implementation of regulatory requirements applicable to the trading and clearing of futures and clearing of swaps, in each case in the U.S. and relevant non-U.S. markets, and engage in industry leading advocacy with respect to a broad range of related regulatory proposals
- Interact with business and control groups to help review, manage and determine approach for regulatory responses and communications
- Provide guidance and instruction with respect to legal rights and obligations, including regulatory implications of contractual terms, disclosures and communications, in connection with trading and account agreements
- Develop a deep understanding of the FCM business’s trading and operational practices to exercise sound judgment and provide informed advice on electronic trading, market access, margin, risk management, customer protection and other matters
- Identify and analyze legal and regulatory issues in connection with new business initiatives, and partner with stakeholders to mitigate and manage legal and regulatory risks
- Cross-regional and cross-functional collaboration on matters pertaining to licensing, cross-border regulation and other jurisdictional matters affecting the FCM business
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant experience working with or at a financial institution, or at a futures or cleared derivatives regulator, including relevant experience at a law firm is preferred
- Knowledge of the Commodity Exchange Act, CFTC regulations, NFA and SRO rules is strongly preferred
