Requirements
- A master’s degree in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Studies.
- Active, unencumbered, unrestricted Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license or Physician Assistant license or temporary permit.
- Active Drug Enforcement Agency registration and Louisiana Controlled Drug Substance license.
- American Heart Association Certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Responsibilities
- Assesses the complex acute, critical and chronically ill patients for urgent and emergent conditions.
- Performs therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems.
- Manages the plan of care through evaluation, modification and documentation according to the patient’s response to therapy.
- Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff and provider team.
- Participates in scholarly activities including research and education.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practice to enhance safety.
