Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, crisis communications, or corporate incident response, including 3-5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of the cyber threat landscape, incident response lifecycle, and security operations.
  • Demonstrated success managing high-severity security incidents and corresponding internal, customer, and public communications.
  • Exceptional ability to craft and edit empathic, accurate, and clear messages under pressure.
  • Experience influencing executives and cross-functional teams in complex organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Cybersecurity, Risk Management, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the global security communications strategy, establishing a trusted, transparent voice across all incident response scenarios.
  • Lead a cross-functional Security Communications Task Force (Security, Legal, Privacy, Public Relations, Customer Success, Support, Sales, and Regulatory Affairs) to deliver aligned, high-integrity messaging.
  • Bar raise and approve messaging artifacts including customer notifications, executive communications, post-incident reports, public statements, and FAQs.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point during cyber incidents and for trust-related inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain communications playbooks for a range of cyber events (e.g., ransomware, data exposure, DDoS, zero-days).
  • Design and lead crisis communication simulations and tabletop exercises to gain alignment and validate readiness.
  • Establish and track KPIs to measure incident communications effectiveness, customer sentiment, and internal security awareness.
  • Coach and upskill internal stakeholders on security communications protocols and best practices.
  • Championing a culture of trust and transparency through thought leadership, media engagement, and industry events.
  • Shape narratives that highlight our customer obsession and commitment to security and privacy.
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to guide remediation, responsible disclosure, and proactive storytelling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s in Cybersecurity or Strategic Communications).
  • Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., Healthcare, Fintech, SaaS).
  • Familiarity with SEC cybersecurity disclosure rules and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, PrivacyMark, DORA).
