Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive People leadership experience with deep operational expertise in global HR compliance, payroll, ER, and benefits.
  • Proven success leading lean People teams through growth, restructuring, and cross-border complexity.
  • Experience in public company environments, with comfort handling board-level governance and executive compensation cycles.
  • Multi-country scope across North America and EMEA, including direct experience navigating complex labor laws and regulatory nuances.
  • Background in hospitality and travel industries — familiarity with high-volume, service-led environments is key.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver all core People functions with a focus on compliance, operational excellence, and scalable service across North America and EMEA.
  • Own and stabilize global payroll and benefits, with a focus on accuracy, cost control, and process efficiency — across both frontline and corporate employee groups.
  • Manage employee relations and labor compliance, with hands-on oversight of jurisdictional requirements and evolving EMEA frameworks.
  • Deliver the annual compensation cycle and lead benefits programs, while supporting executive compensation and Compensation Committee engagement in a public company context.
  • Simplify and modernize HRIS infrastructure and core workflows to support lean execution at scale, including potential system migrations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the full People team — ensuring stability, service levels, and accountability in a lean, high-performing structure.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, and senior business leaders to align People operations with organizational goals, integration milestones, and brand growth.
  • Build a fit-for-purpose People operations model to support Sonder’s next chapter — combining the service standards of global hospitality with the speed, precision, and operational discipline of a technology-enabled business.
