Requirements

  • 10 or more years of industry experience (general liability is helpful for contracts)
  • Proficiency with claims reporting, advocacy, status and reserve adjustment concerns
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, specifically with Excel
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • College degree or commensurate experience

Responsibilities

  • Review claim details to identify most applicable policy(ies) for reporting purposes
  • Report claim, add to tracking system
  • Request copy of all contracts that might apply
  • Review contracts for indemnity and subrogation opportunities or obligations
  • Review all applicable policies to determine coverage issues, approve defense counsel and vendors and advise insured of policy provisions
  • Update tracking spreadsheet, contact adjuster for consent for defense and vendor services
  • Provide insured with adjuster contact information
  • Update Producer and account team of any claim status, consent for vendors, or issues with counsel, rates or vendors
  • Determine appropriate timeline for client and account team updates
  • Act as liaison between Client, Insurer and Producer & Account team
  • Negotiate coverage and maintain advocacy through resolution of claim
  • Establish need for claim reviews between insurer, client and HUB
  • Review full contract, identify which party holds the risk exposure and determine whether the risk is shifted to the appropriate party
  • Review insurance and indemnification language and work with account team to confirm compliance
  • Work with account team to provide client with outline of terms and conditions not in compliance
  • Discuss recommendations with client and their counsel
  • Conference with other party and their counsel to discuss recommendations
  • Provide staff and clients with training and education on claims coverage requirements, issues and policy provisions as well as contractual risk transfer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Insurance designation(s) and/or law degree preferred
  • P&C (Property & Casualty) Insurance Broker License is encouraged
  • Certification in cyber risk claims is encouraged
