Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Past experience as yard jockey or truck driver preferred
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) Hours of Service
  • Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to read small print on packaging and paperwork, with or without corrective lenses
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment
  • Ability to perform basic math computations and identify/verify numbers
  • Ability to read and write English with corrected or uncorrected vision
  • Able to speak and understand English
  • Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer (to include nights, weekends and holidays) as required
  • Ability to learn to use Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to Travel – minimal

Responsibilities

  • Supports achievement of company business plans, strategies and objectives by coordinating the use of shared resources with other departments and locations
  • Promote exceptional (WOW) Customer Service by building and maintaining effective communication with carriers, vendors internal and external customers in order to develop innovative solutions to meet customer needs and ensure product quality and services are never compromised
  • Preventative, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for trucks, trailers and docks (such as repairs on mud flaps, door roller/hinges, lights, minor wiring, minor interior, bulk head, sheet metal, reefers, etc)
  • Document and file all minor maintenance performed for trucks, trailers and dock
  • Recognize equipment failures and defects and promptly communicate larger repair and maintenance needs to maintenance and management
  • Monitor and document fluid levels, temperatures and seal integrity
  • Maintain cleanliness of evaporators and trailers
  • Monitor and report monthly engine hour readings
  • Maintain annual inspections and files
  • Perform Fuel Island maintenance and upkeep daily and as needed
  • Make an accurate account of all equipment, temperatures, and seal integrity
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred
