Requirements
- PhD degree required
- Considerable post-doctoral experience in basic research required
- Considerable experience in HIV/AIDS, immunology and innate immunity research required
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred
- Understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required
- Experience with administration of funded research required
Responsibilities
- Serves as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on sponsored research grants and on original research projects
- Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of HIV/AIDS, immunology, innate immunity and γδ T cells with a focus on translational research
- Develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain funding to support research program
- Secures and maintains NIH RO1 or equivalent funding
- Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals
- Attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences
- Develops national and international scholarly reputation
- Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees
- Participates in division, department, college and university committees and initiatives
