Requirements

  • PhD degree required
  • Considerable post-doctoral experience in basic research required
  • Considerable experience in HIV/AIDS, immunology and innate immunity research required
  • Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred
  • Understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required
  • Experience with administration of funded research required

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on sponsored research grants and on original research projects
  • Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of HIV/AIDS, immunology, innate immunity and γδ T cells with a focus on translational research
  • Develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain funding to support research program
  • Secures and maintains NIH RO1 or equivalent funding
  • Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals
  • Attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences
  • Develops national and international scholarly reputation
  • Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees
  • Participates in division, department, college and university committees and initiatives
