Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field with 10+ years of experience in investments or an investment-related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Solid foundation in financial markets and a wide range of asset types including bonds, structured finance, mortgage loans, and private equities
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to understand and explain datasets and make sense of disparate, sometimes contradictory datapoints in order to provide thoughtful solutions
  • 3+ years of experience in managing and developing a high-performing team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact productively with teams with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability making strategic business and investment decisions and providing clear direction
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the weekly consolidation of Pacific Life’s general account investment portfolio needs and assess and recommend investment volume requirements to the VP of Portfolio Strategy and assess
  • Lead the analysis and reporting of PLI’s asset strategy and investment performance including the production of the Monthly Investment Activity Report and the production of regular reports PLI/CIO needs to deliver
  • Monitor and affirm daily investment activities including portfolio turnover activity or other investment strategies. Direct the evaluation of investment guideline compliance of new investments for PLRE funded reinsurance transactions
  • Lead and manage the Portfolio Strategy Team by fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence
  • Monitor projected cash flows and cash positions across various accounts and entities to facilitate the formulation of value-add investment strategies
  • Oversee the completion all necessary Assets-in-Kind (AIK) analysis for both US PRT and PLRE businesses, and lead the collaboration among different areas to ensure smooth settlements of AIK assets in the case of a win
  • Collaborate closely with ALM, Investment & Product Solutions, Operations, Investment Accounting, and Treasury teams, enabling alignment with our partners and communicating PLI’s activities and strategies. Recommend and facilitate necessary inter-portfolio asset transfers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of life insurance company liabilities (including annuities and institutional products)
  • CFA or FSA designation
  • Proficient in Bloomberg, Power BI, Power Query, VBA, and Python
