Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related technical field and a minimum of 9 years of applicable experience, or a Master’s Degree and 7, or a PhD and 5 years of applicable experience
  • Proficiency using computer application software, Microsoft Office or equivalent document generation software, Microsoft SharePoint or equivalent collaboration tools, Matlab or equivalent computational tools
  • Experience in requirement development and flow down from mission level to element and subsystem levels
  • Experience in development and maintenance of interface control documents
  • Must have participated in verification/validation efforts
  • Must be cognizant of spacecraft systems and subsystems

Responsibilities

  • Interact, convey ideas, communicate
  • Produce work products like ICDs and test plans
  • Support the development of the spacecraft and mission design and analysis efforts
  • Conceive and develop solutions to complex interfaces
  • Understand and convey requirements at various levels to engineering teams, business executives, customers, suppliers, and teammate organizations
  • Lead technical initiatives with direct interaction with chief engineer, program management, and customer representatives
  • Mentor an early career team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong electrical background including experience with electrostatics, magnetic cleanliness, electrical harnesses, grounding and shielding techniques, and schematic development
  • Full space mission life cycle experience (concept development, preliminary design phase, critical design phase, integration and test, launch and early orbit checkout, flight ops)
  • Full understanding of unmanned spacecraft subsystems and avionics (Attitude Control, Electric Power, Command & Data Handling, Structures and Mechanisms, Communications, Propulsion, Flight Software, and Thermal subsystems)
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability and desire to direct a technical team toward delivering Statement Of Work (SOW) deliverables and meeting program milestones
  • Strong troubleshooting skills within a spacecraft/satellite I&T environment – ability to find root cause from anomalous behavior within complex systems
  • Must be a goal-driven, self-starter, willing to proactively work toward strategic and long-term objectives
  • Experience interfacing and working within NASA processes and procedures
  • Experience in functional decomposition
  • Knowledge in any of the following areas: Launch Vehicles, System Safety, System Reliability, Contamination Control, EMI, Space Environments (Radiation, Surface Charging, etc.), or Human Factors
  • Experience with subcontract management
