Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of industry experience related to the planning or operation of transmission and distribution power systems
Responsibilities
- Collaborate, perform, and lead power system studies (steady-state, stability, short-circuit, transfer limit, PV/QC, etc.) using industry-standard software tools such as PSS/E, ASPEN, and TARA
- Use excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of management to inform and influence others, providing strategic input for business plans and decision making
- Take a leadership role in the scoping, performance, and quality assurance of technical studies performed by a team of engineers
- Analyze and assess complex transmission systems at numerous voltage levels
- Clearly document and communicate results and recommendations, as appropriate, including data representation, report writing, and developing/delivering presentations
- Seek out and develop subject matter expertise on a diverse range of topics
- Mentor and support the team to aid in the advancement of business needs
- Take initiative to identify opportunities for process improvement and drive change
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert-level capability with steady state power system modeling and simulation software (e.g., TARA, PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Local, State, Regional, and Federal regulatory standards, processes, and requirements
- Ability to lead, and be accountable for, internal and external (consulting) staff toward a common goal
- Understanding and conveying ideas clearly and convincingly
- Understanding of the various considerations that relate to the scoping and development of preliminary project proposals
