Principal Packaging Engineer

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering
Experience with multiple packaging forms (plastic bottles, corrugate, closures, labels and multi-layer film)
Technical knowledge of packaging substrates and manufacturing processes
Six Sigma Certification preferred
Subject matter expertise in packaging with extensive knowledge/ experience of packaging for consumer and industrial applications
Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities
Comfortable working with data to guide decision making through design of experiments
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with strong influencing and persuasive talents
Experience in operational or commercial roles with proven track record in delivering year to year savings and driving change through organizations
AutoCAD experience is required
Sustainability experience is required
Experience working with Microsoft office platforms inc. PowerPoint
Up to 30% travel required

Oversee a comprehensive review of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging to identify and implement optimal standardized packaging solutions.
Evaluate packaging materials and systems to enhance recyclability and identify opportunities for sustainable improvements.
Conduct Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) comparisons to assess environmental impacts of proposed packaging changes.
Analyze and recommend optimal packaging decoration methods, including leveraging internal capabilities for in-plant labeling of primary packaging.
Drive reduction in closure liner complexity to streamline packaging SKUs and manufacturing processes.
Update pallet stacking patterns and ensure accurate data is maintained in SAP to enhance reporting and traceability.
Partner with the Procurement team to identify, document, and track cost-saving initiatives related to packaging improvements.
