Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Economic Development, Business Administration or Political Science, or relevant years of experience.
  • 15 years of experience in Program or Project Management, and/or Workforce Development.
  • Knowledge of incentive programs in the Gulf region and States where Airbus operates.
  • Knowledge of local governments and proven capability of building positive relations with key officials and education authorities, K-12 and college.
  • Experience in office management to include administration, budget, vendors and third parties.
  • Organizational management and task prioritization, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and projects simultaneously.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Advanced level of professional office word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of workforce and economic development strategies to enable regional growth, grow talent pipelines, and drive alignment with business objectives and long-term workforce planning needs.
  • Develop and expand workforce programs and partnerships across U.S. sites, focusing on building robust career pathways that support critical roles, including technical, skilled trades, and leadership positions.
  • Lead the identification and development of Workforce and Economic Development initiatives in new regions and sites, including the establishment of new local partnerships and pipeline strategies.
  • Partner with the HR and Business leaders across the U.S. and Canada to advise on workforce development concepts, ensuring that Canadian programs align with local regulations and address regional needs while supporting the broader North America strategy.
  • Lead community outreach efforts to promote workforce development, including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education initiatives for elementary through high school students.
  • Create and manage workforce development pipelines at all levels—from apprenticeships, internships, and entry-level roles through to experienced professionals and leadership positions.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with a variety of channels, including community colleges, local and government organizations, military outreach programs, and industry associations.
  • Lead a team of local and regional associates to drive progress in WFD, military recruitment and other affiliated programs.
  • Analyze workforce data to identify trends, skills gaps, and future talent needs, utilizing insights to inform program development and drive continuous improvement in workforce initiatives.
  • Work closely with HR, Talent Acquisition, and Business Leadership teams to ensure workforce programs align with business goals, growth projections, and regional expansion efforts.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of workforce programs from concept development to execution, including apprenticeship programs, internships, upskilling initiatives, and leadership development pipelines.
  • Ensure all workforce development programs comply with applicable labor laws and regulations in both the U.S. and Canada.
  • Direct, guide and manage a team, including Sr Mgr WFD, Mgr Military Outreach, several associates who provide coordination and support of both WFD & FWA initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration
  • 10+ years of experience in management and community outreach
  • Workforce Development in the State of Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi, Texas, Virginia or Washington
  • Workforce Development in Canada
  • SHRM-CP or PHR
  • Experienced and effective working in an international environment
  • French, German or Spanish preferred
  • Google Workspace preferred
