Requirements
- An active State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) certification in the state of Ohio is required at the time of application
- Meets the training requirements of the State and has successfully completed a state established or other training program that meets the State’s requirements of a competency evaluation program, or state licensure program
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance in your name as a driver
- Capable of all physical demands
Responsibilities
- Perform personal care needs for your patient and attend to their requests promptly
- Effectively communicate the patient’s condition and significant changes to the assigned supervisory nurse
- Inform the caregiver of any issues
- Provide care that includes baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen as often as assigned
- Take and record oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency
- Assist in dressing and undressing patients as assigned
- Assist in meal prep and feeding patients as assigned
- Assist in ambulation and exercise as instructed by the primary care nurse or therapist
- Perform range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency
- Maintain good relationships with the patient, the patient’s family, and staff
- Report any changes to the patient’s medical and living conditions to the supervisor or the primary nurse
- Meet safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, Oxygen, etc.)
- Provide proper care and observation of patient’s skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominence
- Adhere to the organization’s documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct
- Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience is preferred, preferably in Hospice care
- Compassionate communicator with a positive attitude
- Understanding of the hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill and secure with the issues of death/dying
- Patience is a virtue when working with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers
- Attention to detail is critical, as is being observant and following directions
