Requirements
- Must meet Highly Qualified requirements by: High School Diploma/GED AND an Associate’s Degree or higher OR Successful completion of 60 semester hours of college credit OR Obtain a passing score on one of the ADE approved assessments: ETS ParaPro Assessment (Praxis), ACT Workkeys, or Master Teacher’s ParaEducator PD Now!
- Active Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- CPR Certification.
- Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
Responsibilities
- Works with small groups.
- Directs small groups of children under the supervision of the teacher.
- Assists children in understanding and following directions.
- Encourages children to work independently.
- Reinforces skills taught by the classroom teacher to small and large groups.
- Helps children individually.
- Supervises children during lunch, on the playground, etc.
- Assists classroom teacher with general cleanup and preparation.
- Assists teachers with routine tasks such as: Recording attendance and other information, Preparing the classroom for instruction, Gathering resources and supplementary materials.
- Prepares instructional materials.
- Takes and maintains CPR training.
- Assists with activities of daily living.
- Implements modified curriculum.
- Provides behavior support.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellent reading, writing, computation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform routine clerical tasks in support of classroom activities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
