- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) (formerly CDA) – Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners

Responsibilities
- Makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records.
- Assists hands instruments and materials to orthodontists and keeps patients’ mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
- Ensures equipment utilized is in good working order.
- Reviews and maintains dental records documenting assessments and care provided.
- Reviews consent and medical history prior to treatment.
- Prepares impression trays, orthodontic banding/bonding, arch wire ligation and removal, takes dental x-rays, removing sutures, placing matrices, placing and removing rubber bands, ligature ties and separators, removes excess cement from restorations and bands and takes clinical photographs.
- Handles instrument cleaning, sterilization/disinfection and re-circulation. Performs dental room/chair disinfection.
- Prepares casting models and dies, pours impressions to make stone and plaster models, and fabricates mouth guards, retainers and custom impression trays.
- Assists in patient/family education through written and oral explanation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate from college program or technical school
- Clinics – Related 1 year Pediatric experience
- Certified Orthodontic Assistant (COA) – Dental Assistant National Board, Inc
- Certified Preventive Functions Dental Assistant (CPFDA) – Dental Assistant National Board, Inc
