Requirements
- Associate degree in Allied Health
- Major in Radiologic Technology
- Completion of all mammography courses required for registry
- CPR Certification required
- ARRT RT (R) registry required
- ARRT RT (M) registry required within 6 months
- ODH licensure required
Responsibilities
- Performs mammographic procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates images for technical quality
- Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the mammography procedure
- Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed mammography policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required
- Practices sterile techniques during biopsy procedures
- Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations
- Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction
- Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam
- Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure
- Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit
- Follows radiation safety policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- One year experience or additional training in specialized field of Mammography
