Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
- 12+ years of work experience in pharma/biotech/healthcare, or at an agency, with a comprehensive understanding of the biopharma industry.
- Significant U.S. product launch experience required.
- At least 5 years of experience in product/pipeline communications, preferably in Neuroscience and/or sleep-wake disorders, rare neurology and neurodegenerative diseases.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional communications programs that are closely connected to business priorities.
- Outstanding attention to detail and highly organized, with the ability to meet important deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Need to ensure medical, legal and regulatory compliance across all communications content.
Responsibilities
- Lead communications in the U.S. for a Neuroscience franchise with a high-priority late-stage asset, serving on a cross-functional U.S. leadership team.
- Drive launch readiness and excellence in the U.S. for high-priority asset for the company.
- Build trust with U.S. Neuroscience and franchise leadership, showing up as a business leader and thought partner.
- Drive operationalization of new, high-performing Global R&D and Portfolio Communications team and create a collaborative culture within Neuroscience, Global Communications and Takeda.
- Collaborate closely with the Lead, Neuroscience Communications driving franchise and asset communications globally.
- Direct U.S. external (75%) and internal (25%) communications strategies in collaboration with other Neuroscience and Global Communications team members.
- Develop and execute communications plans for data readouts, regulatory milestones, launches, life-cycle management and issues management, including scenario planning, messaging and materials development, toolkits, congress communications, media relations strategies, digital/social strategy and quarterly investor messaging support.
- Create U.S. disease state education programs and above-brand positioning.
- Partner closely with U.S. patient advocacy, public affairs, global corporate affairs colleagues and investor relations, among others, to ensure a consistent Neuroscience and franchise narrative and communications strategy.
- Advise on communications strategies for major Neuroscience medical congresses where data will be presented, liaising with R&D and medical communications teams, as appropriate.
- Lead issues and crisis planning and execution, as needed.
- Develop and track audience-specific KPIs to ensure communications are meeting desired objectives.
- Act as a role model for Takeda’s values and leadership behaviors, promoting diversity, inclusion and empowerment.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and learning, leveraging best practices, insights and feedback to optimize communications effectiveness and impact.
- Manage public relations agency partners and oversee communications budgets for Neuroscience portfolio and programs.
