Requirements

  • Concurrently enrolled in and progressing through their education program in a related field of study. Must provide documentation of enrollment in an accredited program, any earned degree or certification that may be required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the knowledge and skills in the field directly related to the intern opportunity.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organization skills, detail oriented and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently maintain a good rapport and a positive demeanor with employees and customers.
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to take on additional assignments when needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and functions of food pantry
  • Co-design and implement an evaluation of the food pantry
  • Communicate clearly and consistently
  • Check-in regularly with your Community Health Internship/Rotation leader
  • Review the most current community health needs assessment and implementation strategy
  • Conduct literature reviews and identify evidence-based practices related to project
  • Learn how to evaluate project outcomes and understand community health outcome metrics
  • Write clearly and cite sources with integrity
  • Understand Children’s Health Community Health team assets and resources with regard to wellness and injury prevention, nutrition security, safety and emotional wellbeing
  • Greet & assist clients
  • Stock shelves
  • Pack food bags
  • Maintain client database
  • Clean/Upkeep of Pantry
  • Share injury prevention and mental wellbeing resources with families as appropriate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting with demonstrated customer service excellence.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data entry platforms.
  • Enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in community health or community benefit.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to protect and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
