Requirements

  • Proficiently applies knowledge of design concepts, governmental and municipal regulations, hydrologic and hydraulic methodologies and modeling software, CAD tools, GIS applications, plan preparation, surveying principles, and construction techniques
  • 2 to 5 years of experience with water resources or civil engineering
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro, H&H modeling software (such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Continual learning and improvement to yield an in-depth understanding beyond that of a Designer I
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with the project team to ensure successful delivery of projects
  • Respond to plan reviewers in a timely manner and initiate follow-up when necessary
  • Apply understanding of design regulations, development ordinances, and jurisdictional requirements and be able to research and navigate design requirements for new sites
  • Produce hydrologic calculations using SCS Curve Number Method, Rational Method, and other relevant methodologies for use in design and analysis of water resources projects
  • Produce hydraulic calculations for design of storm conveyances with approved software (StormCAD, PCSWMM, etc.) and prepare storm drainage plans to include storm sewer piping, open channel design, culvert design, and inlet flow calculations (spread calcs)
  • Produce hydraulic calculations for design of spillways, detention facilities, and other systems requiring hydrograph routing using approved software (HEC-HMS, PondPack, etc.)
  • Produce flood studies using HEC-RAS meeting standards for FEMA or local jurisdictions’ submittals
  • Apply a firm understanding of riverine floodplain and floodway concepts as required
  • Prepare grading, hydrology data, and construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Prepare engineering calculation reports
  • Use ArcGIS Pro for producing hydrology calculations as well as production of figures and exhibits
  • Design and layout erosion control devices and develop erosion control plans per local and State standards
  • Design and layout stormwater control measures per local and State standards
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of stormwater design as it impacts site/design components
  • Produce Earthwork calculations and adjust grading
  • Complete field work as necessary for data collection and as-built certifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • EI certification on path to PE license preferred
