Requirements

  • Possession of a current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial mechanical asset design, operation, and/or maintenance.
  • Reliability and/or Maintenance Engineering experience in the chemical manufacturing industry is preferred, with an emphasis on petrochemical, liquefied natural gas, or petroleum refinery sectors.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering codes, standards, and recommended practices (e.g., ASME, API, NBIC).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and CMMS asset management software.
  • Experience with SAP and engineering analysis software (e.g., Compress, Caesar, AMS Machinery Manager, Bently Nevada – System 1, PROGNOST) is advantageous.
  • A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Leadership skills that include conflict resolution and driving change are essential.
  • Successful candidates must pass background screening, including motor vehicle record checks, drug testing, and a pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the Area Improvement Teams, providing mechanical asset support and expertise.
  • Monitor equipment performance continuously, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices to improve asset dependability.
  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies such as preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime and prolong asset lifespan.
  • Evaluate risks associated with mechanical assets, conduct engineering assessments, and recommend risk mitigation strategies within the Risk Based Inspection program.
  • Investigate equipment failures to perform root cause analyses (RCA) and apply findings to prevent future occurrences.
  • Conduct fitness for service (FFS) evaluations on mechanical assets, considering damage mechanisms, to inform repair, run, or replace decisions.
  • Create repair or alteration scopes for assets based on engineering assessments and inspection recommendations.
  • Collaborate with capital project teams to ensure mechanical assets are designed for reliability, safety, and longevity, providing input on design specifications and plans.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations, including compliance with ASME, API, and other industry standards.
  • Review and audit documentation related to equipment inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance, ensuring records are up to date.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies in mechanical equipment maintenance and reliability.
  • Perform all duties with a commitment to personal and team safety, promptly reporting any safety, health, or environmental concerns to management.
  • Actively support and contribute to the company’s continuous improvement and operational excellence goals, initiating projects or communicating ideas for improvement to management, and participating in project teams.
  • Uphold, support, and promote company policies and procedures.
  • Provide support during major site outages and turnarounds.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities or duties as required by business needs.
