Requirements
- Ph.D. in Vertebrate Ecology or Wildlife Biology
- Ability to teach Field Biology Techniques, Vertebrate Natural History, Principles of Wildlife Management, and Conservation Biology
- Willingness and ability to teach in the field
- Willingness to mentor field-based individual undergraduate research
Responsibilities
- Develops and teaches courses as assigned
- Mentors undergraduate research for students in field biology concentration
- Acquires the appropriate state and federal permits for vertebrate animal work
- Maintains and enlarges the small vertebrate museum collection used for teaching
- Maintains and repairs field equipment
- Maintains high standards of instruction
- Regularly keeps office hours and is receptive to students both in person and electronically
- Offers quality academic advising to students
- Actively serves on university committees and participates in institutional meetings
- Assists with curriculum development
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience outside academia
- Expertise in natural resources management
- Expertise in GIS
- Expertise in biostatistics
