Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data classification, tagging, and protection within an enterprise environment using Microsoft Purview
  • 3+ years of experience working with privacy or data protection laws and regulations
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions (e.g. client/server, storage, network, cloud, information security concepts, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience with participating Incident Response and/or Vulnerability Management activities, including planning, assessment, and mitigation
  • 3+ years of experience with data access management, user permissions, and audit logging

Responsibilities

  • Lead the deployment and configuration of Microsoft Purview Information Protection solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing security infrastructure and workflows
  • Develop and implement data classification frameworks and tagging methodologies using Microsoft Purview to ensure sensitive data is accurately identified and protected throughout its lifecycle
  • Design and manage data protection strategies utilizing Microsoft Purview, including data loss prevention (DLP), encryption, and access controls, to safeguard sensitive information from unauthorized access and breaches
  • Oversee the deployment and management of Microsoft Purview endpoint clients, ensuring they are effectively utilized to protect data across various platforms and devices
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Legal, and Compliance, to ensure data protection protocols are effective and aligned with business objectives
  • Utilize Microsoft Purview’s monitoring capabilities to track data access and usage, detecting anomalies and potential security incidents related to data classification and protection
  • Collaborate with internal teams to investigate security incidents involving classified data, manage data breaches, and resolve access control issues effectively
  • Produce detailed reports and analytics on data classification, tagging, and protection efforts using Microsoft Purview and maintain accurate documentation of security configurations, findings, and actions
  • Ensure that the organization remains compliant with regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS by auditing data access and usage related to classified information
  • Assist with educating employees on best practices for data classification, tagging, and protection using Microsoft Purview, as well as how to minimize potential risks associated with data sharing and access

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with enterprise implementation and similar Data Discovery/Data Classification/Data Protection Tools (ex: BigID, Varonis, Microsoft Purview, etc.)
  • Professional certifications in data protection or related fields (e.g., CDMP, CIPP)
  • Microsoft Purview-related certifications in data protection (SC-400 or SC-401(beta): Administering Information Security in Microsoft 365)
  • Experience with data classification tools and cloud data management solutions
  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools
