Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in the field of Mechanical, Chemical, Thermal & Energy Engineering or equivalent knowledge/experience.
- Significant experience in the field of Steam Turbine/Combined Cycle Performance Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near and long-term engineering needs related to combined cycle power plant performance improvement including decarbonization technologies.
- Provide technical consultation on product problems that impact the intended outcome of steam turbine performance/combined cycle power plant performance throughout the business.
- Proactively provide inputs for risk evaluation & mitigation plan on critical/complex projects.
- Develop data reconciliation methodologies in support of complex BOP modeling and assessments to improve accuracy of predictions.
- Share best design practices, leverage lessons learned on complex studies to address any quality issues, process gaps, and drive standard work collaborating with cross functional partners.
- Ownership of ST Performance lifecycle, the responsibilities that would include determination of P50 Performance level, Performance Margining for all types of guarantees, Baselining ST performance for Services Upgrades, Validation of ST performance, Updates to ST performance model assumptions.
- Facilitate and lead any Design practice and Work Instructions requirements in the Services Steam Turbine space, partner with broader CTH community to drive consistent strategies.
- Lead and provide the key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact through forward leaning technologies & plant outcome-based solutions.
- Facilitate interaction with ST Engineering to have a consistent ST performance method across New Units and Services and across legacy GE, legacy Alstom as well as oOEM steam turbine fleets.
- Maintain an active role in developing and defining a holistic & state of the art hardware/digital solution, methods/tools to anticipate, apply, adapt, or develop technologies for product introduction, quality, performance, cost improvements and problem resolution in meeting current and future business needs including adherence to schedules and estimated costs.
- Proactive guidance/mentoring: Create ecosystem to organically build opportunities & promote ownership.
- Coordinate with customers, Product Line, Sales, and Engineering to ensure proposed solutions are compatible with the customer needs, GE design standards and established quoting limits.
- Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve product or field issues.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters.
- Use knowledge and expertise to market winning proposals in anticipation of business product needs.
- Support invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
- Evaluate & provide technical guidance, direction, and training to new and experienced engineers in performance engineering domain.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Engineering/Technology in the field of Mechanical, Chemical, Thermal and Energy Engineering.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business.
- Problem analysis and resolution skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art in at least one technical specialty, along with the ability to teach and set standard practices within the field of steam turbine, combined cycle plant thermal performance.
