Within South Pointe Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), your work as a Clinical Technician is critical to ensuring patient care and safety. In this role, you will assist the RN with hourly rounding, daily patient care and other essential tasks. You will experience endless learning opportunities caring for diverse populations of adult patients in a fast-paced environment with a high patient turnover rate.
A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as checking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheters.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) before or within new hire period
- One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)

Physical Requirements:
- Full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
- Extensive standing and walking
- Medium Work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects
- Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Medium Work
