Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Bring a minimum of 10+ years of direct experience within the electric utility industry, with a strong focus on interconnection, transmission planning, or distribution system operations.
- Demonstrate extensive experience working directly with ERCOT and other relevant utilities, with a network of established senior-level contacts.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of power system studies, modeling methodologies, and analytical techniques.
- Showcase a proven track record of successfully managing complex interconnection projects specifically for load, with experience in generation interconnection being a significant asset.
- Possess a strong working knowledge of utility regulations, interconnection procedures, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven ability to effectively track and interpret Nodal Protocol Revision Requests and other critical regulatory filings.
Responsibilities
- Forge and maintain robust, senior-level relationships with key individuals at ERCOT and other relevant utilities, acting as the primary point of contact to ensure seamless collaboration and clear communication.
- Lead the development and execution of Crusoe’s interconnection strategy, strategically identifying optimal locations for load interconnection within the ERCOT grid and other utility systems.
- Expertly manage the complete interconnection application lifecycle, from initial feasibility assessments to final energization, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Direct and oversee the meticulous preparation, thorough review, and effective negotiation of critical interconnection agreements.
- Coordinate effectively with internal engineering teams, external consultants, and utility partners to ensure all project milestones are achieved efficiently.
- Leverage a deep technical understanding of power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, stability, and transient analyses, to interpret complex results and provide actionable insights for interconnection strategy and risk mitigation.
- Oversee the development and continuous maintenance of accurate and effective power system models.
- Collaborate on the strategic planning and seamless execution of behind-the-meter generation technologies, including solar, wind, gas, and battery storage.
- Assess the technical and economic viability of integrating distributed generation resources, carefully considering grid impacts and optimization opportunities.
- Diligently monitor and track all relevant nodal protocol revision requests (NPRRs) and regulatory developments within ERCOT and other applicable jurisdictions, ensuring Crusoe’s complete compliance with all applicable standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Direct experience with the technical and economic evaluation of behind-the-meter generation technologies and distributed energy resources.
- Active participation in industry forums, regulatory proceedings, or relevant stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and presenting technical reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Familiarity with power system simulation software and tools.
- Experience in negotiating complex commercial agreements within the energy sector.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
