Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience, with 3+ years in a people leadership role managing successful software engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in software development methodologies, technologies, and tools, with proven success in leading and delivering large-scale initiatives working with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, as well as expertise in Kubernetes and modern orchestration tools like terraform and argo.
  • Strong knowledge of network technologies, such as TCP/IP, DNS, TLS termination, HTTP proxies, etc.
  • Strong Experience in Observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ElasticSearch etc.
  • Experience and passion for service ownership, building reliable/self-healing services.
  • Experience working in a complex team environment. Able to deliver under pressure and dependency constraints.
  • Experience at Scrum or other agile development methodologies, with attention to code quality, delivering secure code
  • Good programming background, ideally with experience in Go (Golang), Python, or similar languages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proven ability to navigate team dynamics, resolve conflicts, and facilitate career development discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of platform engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership in areas such as Kubernetes, Service Mesh, Ingress Gateway, Network Protocols, Monitoring Softwares, Public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD Orchestration.
  • Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with many multi-functional teams, architects, product owners and engineering managers
  • Contribute to strategic planning and help define the long-term technical roadmap for the platform.
  • Make critical decisions that attribute to the success of the product. Be proactive in foreseeing issues and resolving it before it happens
  • Provide effective technical direction, ensuring that good architectural decisions are made.
  • Coach and mentor the team, maintaining high morale and motivating the team to go above and beyond
  • Navigate complex people situations with empathy and clarity, always keeping team health and business goals in balance.
  • Champion and guide the use and contribution to open-source technologies, with a clear strategy for integration, support, and ongoing community engagement.
  • Champion best practices in software development and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing and utilizing open-source technologies, including developing contribution strategies and engaging with upstream communities (preferable)
