Requirements
- Requires BS and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Must have an active Secret clearance and pass a drug test.
- Must have a DoD 8570 IAT Level II approved certification (CompTIA Security+)
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting, implementing, and maintaining Linux-based infrastructure in a production environment. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Solid understanding of server architecture and datacenter operations, including system provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with core network services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NTP) and their integration within Linux environments.
- Experience with one or more security compliance frameworks or tools such as Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVMs).
- Foundational knowledge of cryptographic principles, including symmetric and asymmetric encryption, secure hashing algorithms, and digital signatures.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build collaborative relationships across teams.
- Highly proactive and dependable with exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proven analytical and troubleshooting abilities, particularly in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in Linux systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site touch labor in a data center environment.
- Manage, configure, and optimize Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, etc.)
- Validate current security posture and perform system configuration changes, as required or as directed by higher authority, to improve enterprise security
- Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tool and Security Technical Information Guides (STIGs) to maintain required infrastructure security levels and system hardening
- Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and patch management
- Troubleshoot server-related issues and provide timely resolution
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and uptime
- Implement security best practices, including firewall configurations and access controls
- Automate tasks using scripting and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, etc.)
- Manage storage solutions, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans
- Collaborate with other IT teams to support applications and services
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Support temporarily, Service Response, continuity of operations support as needed.
- Conduct technical analysis and provides documentation (Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), troubleshooting and monitoring, technical reports, etc.) for root cause analysis, technical assessment and process improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience with scripting and automation
- Experience with certificate-enabled applications such as SSL/TLS, S/MIME, authentication, Encrypted File System, Code Signing, etc.
- Experience with AWS cloud services and environments.
- Ability to install and configure software, firmware, upgrades and security updates/patches to maintain and secure operating systems and associated hardware
- Identify and correct inefficiencies and implement optimizations to improve existing Windows and Citrix infrastructures, as needed.
