Scrub Tech – Cna – Labor/Delivery

Requirements

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
• Current CNA Certification
• Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required at time of hire, and CNA certification required within 120 days of hire)
• Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two (2) years (official transcript required at time of hire; CNA certification required within 120 days of hire)
• Must be scrub trained within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Ensures that the patient room is ready to receive the patient with equipment and supplies necessary during the labor and delivery process.
• Assists patients with bed baths, showering, use of bed pans and restrooms, foley catheter care, and ambulation.
• Obtains and documents vital signs of patients and newborns before, during, and after delivery.
• Prepares the room for vaginal delivery by draping the patient and preparing appropriate equipment, including the delivery table, and assists the RN.
• Prepares the room for C-Section by preparing the patient, scrubbing for procedures, setting up and passing instruments, and completing all instrument, sponge, and sharp counts with the RN. Ensures sterility is maintained throughout the operative procedure.
• Understands the plan of care and delivers basic patient care by collecting and documenting patient data and reporting patient changes to the RN.
• May perform clerical duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as Labor and Delivery Operating Room (OR) Technician
